On 21 November 1994, Ceredase was licensed in the UK by the Department of Health. Martin Cortvriend, UK Manager of Genzyme Therapeutics, says: 'I feel that product approval in the UK is highly significant in that it is an unequivocal message from the Department of Health to those responsible for the management of Gauchers patients that this is no longer an experimental medicine but is clearly recommended as an effective treatment for Gauchers sufferers as delineated in the approved prescribing information.

'Unfortunately a licence has not yet been obtained in Ireland but the latest estimate for approval is mid-February. '

Indications for Use and Dosage under the approved prescribing data sheet.
